3 Reasons Why Being Outdoors Will Enrich Your Life
When I tell people I go camping, I often get a look that says, WHAT?! Why?!
I’m sure horrific images of spiders attacking them in their sleep come to mind and I try to explain there’s more to the outdoors than spiders and dirt, and that these things can often be avoided.
When I boil it down, there are 3 reasons WHY I camp and do any number of things listed on this blog. Here’s what you ladies can expect to get out of the great outdoors.
1. Burn calories
As much as I would like to run like a gazelle around Lady Bird Lake, the truth is, I hate running. I look like escaped convict on her last leg. I’m sure my neighbors shield their children’s eyes when I come down the street. Not to mention, I get bored. Enter hiking. When hiking, kayaking/canoeing, etc. I’ve covered 3 miles before I even know it.
Stand up paddleboarding = great arm workout.
2. Enrich Friendships & Bond with Family
There’s nothing like canoeing down a river, racing across a field on a quarter horse, or watching the sunset around a tank with those in your closest circle. The shared sense of adventure forms a companionship that can’t be replicated elsewhere.
(10 out of 10 furry friends agree.)
3. Gorgeous Scenery
Gorgeous scenery unwinds me.
The great outdoors never cease to leave me wow-ed.
Views like this are simply unbeatable.
Sigh.
If I had a fourth reason, I would say campfire food. I think the next time someone asks me why I go camping, I’m just going to show them this picture:
Strawberry and Nutella s’mores. Enough said.
