What to Wear Skeet Shooting..When It’s Hot Outside
Texas is hot but it’s even hotter on a skeet range, due in part to the asphalt and part to the lack of shade. Trees tend to get in the way of moving targets and ammunition.
I’ve put together some outfits here I think would keep you cool and looking fresh on the range. My personal favorite is outfit 2. I love wearing fishing shirts on hot days since they are so light and breezy. More importantly, they can be worn hiking, fishing, shooting, and hunting, so they’re an all-around good investment.
Notice the closed-toe shoes on all of these. Closed-toe shoes are required at some skeet fields but regardless, I highly recommend them if you are shooting an over-under shotgun because you can rest the end of your barrel on your toe while you wait your turn.

And finally, can’t go wrong with Lilly Pulitzer prints on the skeet field.
These outfits should keep you cool and comfortable on the skeet field. Don’t forget shooting glasses and earplugs (both available at Walmart and Academy for under $10) and shotgun shells (also available at Academy.) Knock em dead!
