Grilled Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates

I had this hors d’oeuvre at a party some time ago and I’ve been aching to recreate it, it was so delicious. I may or may not have tracked the waiter serving this down more than once. The weather was perfect for grilling out this week, and I had a fresh box of Tunisian dates, so the stars aligned!

To me, this is like a fancy addition to a laid back barbecue menu. Simple to make, a little sweet, a little salty, a little exotic, and easy to grab and pop in your mouth. Like a bacon bon bon.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of bacon
  • 5 oz. Goat Cheese
  • 20+ Dates

Instructions

Remove the pit from the dates by slicing down the middle with a knife.

Stuff each date with goat cheese. (Or try an almond for a good non-dairy alternative.)

Wrap in bacon.

Throw it on the grill at roughly 350 degrees.

Check periodically and rotate after the bacon gets crispy on one side. The dates should be done after ten minutes or once the bacon appears done.

Voila! Perfection.

With the rest of your coals, roast a marshmallow or two for dessert.
